Beckham Bets on a Patient Climb: United’s Slow Bake Into Form

Matchday progress at Selhurst Park
Manchester United legend David Beckham offered cautious optimism about the team's direction under Portuguese coach Ruben Amorim, saying the progress is there but at a slow pace, despite a hard-fought 2-1 win at Crystal Palace on Sunday in the 13th round of the Premier League.
United turned around a deficit at Selhurst Park after Jean-Philippe Mateta's first-half penalty, replying in the second half through Joshua Zirkzee and Mason Mount, securing a crucial win after a heavy defeat to Everton (1-0) last week.
Beckham's perspective and the England World Cup note
In an interview with Sky Sports on the sidelines of the Qatar Grand Prix, Beckham said: “I think there are signs that the manager is starting to turn things around. He has changed a few things, and we are starting to see better results, but the road is still long, and there are still games where we are not performing as well as we all want.”
“But I believe we have a good manager who is changing things slowly.”
Beckham noted that the win lifted United to seventh with 21 points, three points off the top four, following Aston Villa’s win over Wolverhampton.
On the national team, he also spoke about England’s World Cup chances under coach Thomas Tuchel: “I think Thomas has a fantastic list of players, and we have a real chance. Our captain Harry Kane is in incredible form, scoring and leading the team with professionalism.”
“Tuchel will face tough decisions, but he is used to that. I trust he will pick the lineup that gives us a chance to win the tournament.”
Punchlines: If progress moves at this pace, United will need a coffee sponsorship from the Premier League to stay awake. And maybe Beckham himself can lend a little extra optimism—because apparently, the trophy cabinet runs on good vibes and decaf.
