Fireworks Follow Victory: Bayern’s Boss Calls Out Fans and Flags Safety Warnings

Fireworks controversy mars Bayern's win in the Champions League
Jan-Christian Dreesen, Bayern Munich's CEO, issued sharp criticism of some club fans after the 3-1 victory over Sporting Lisbon on Tuesday night in the UEFA Champions League group stage, citing their use of fireworks.
The fireworks lit by Bayern supporters shortly after halftime threatened a partial closure of the south stands, according to the Bavarian club's president.
Dreesen added that UEFA had issued a clear warning with sanctions due to the monitoring period the club received after last season's match against Bayer Leverkusen.
He noted that the use of fireworks is not good, especially given the weather conditions, as the smoke and fog lingered in the stadium. He was worried that the match could be halted due to reduced visibility, which he described as simply unacceptable.
He also stated that the club would see how to handle the matter moving forward. Bayern remains in dialogue with the fans, but he stressed that some people have their own ideas about what is right, while rules must be followed and there is no place for such conduct.
Humor note: If fireworks keep popping up, Bayern might start selling smoke alarms as official match-day gear. Punchline two: perhaps the stadium will come with a weather forecast app—smoke, rain, and safety first, all in one package.
