Pre-Trial Tease: Al-Breikan Dodges Punishment in Al-Fath Transfer Saga
18 November 2025
Reports reveal that Feras Al-Breikan, Al-Ahli Jeddah's striker, escaped penalties in the case brought by his former club Al-Fath regarding his high-profile move in the summer of 2023.
The dispute traces back to September last year when Al-Fath's management filed a formal complaint against the player and his current club.
Al-Fath argued that Al-Ahli breached the protected period in Al-Breikan's contract by negotiating with him before the termination clause, and that the player paid the contract termination to move to Jeddah in 2023 on a five-year deal.
Although the complaint was previously rejected, Al-Fath did not concede and turned to the Saudi Arbitration Center to seek sanctions.
Arbitration Ruling Leaks
Saudi sports daily Al-Riyadhiyya said the Saudi Arbitration Center will not convict Al-Breikan or Al-Ahli in its final decision to be announced in the coming days.
The standard deadline to study the complaint ends the day after tomorrow, Thursday, by which time the center will have fulfilled 60 days since receiving the case, the maximum allowed time to issue the final ruling.
According to the paper, the Center views the allegations by Al-Fath as mere doubts, not enough evidence to impose a penalty on the player or the club.
This would be the second time that Al-Fath's request for punishment was rejected, after the Saudi Professional League’s committee also refused in February.
Notable Stats and Plans
Undoubtedly, Al-Ahli has benefited greatly by recruiting Al-Breikan, who had previously played for Al-Nassr, and who was among the club’s youth players.
In the 2023 season he moved from Al-Fath to Al-Ahli to become one of the team's standout attacking players.
He has appeared in 92 matches for Al-Ahli, scoring 25 goals and providing 17 assists.
He also played 65 matches for Al-Fath, scoring 33 goals and providing 9 assists.
German coach Matias Jaissle plans to rely on Al-Breikan as a key weapon, especially with uncertainty around Ivan Toni and possible January exit, amid Premier League interest.
Jaissle had excluded Toni from the derby against Al-Ittihad in Round 8, explaining that the foreign-player quota dictated the decision.
Breikan is one of the top Saudi forwards today, a cornerstone for Al-Ahli's frontline thanks to his scoring instinct and physical presence.
He thrives in off-the-ball movement and intelligent positioning, finishing with both feet and head, making him a go-to option in decisive moments.
Tactically, he adds variety by helping build plays and pressing defenses, creating space for teammates and showing growth in tactical awareness.
On the international stage, Breikan has reinforced Saudi Arabia's push toward the 2026 World Cup, contributing with goals in qualifying and a brace against Indonesia in the Asian playoff.
He first wore the national team shirt in October 2019 under Hervé Renard and has since earned 61 caps, scoring 13 goals and 4 assists across all competitions, including World Cup and Asian Cup campaigns.
