Youth Derby: Al Ahly Triumphs 3-0 Over Zamalek
\nAl Ahly's youth team delivered a commanding 3-0 victory over rivals Zamalek in the Cairo derby, played Sunday evening at the Red Club's home ground in Nasr City, as part of the ninth round of the Republic Championship for players born in 2005.
\nGoals came from Samuel Obong, who opened the scoring, followed by a brace from Kazem Ibrahim, in a match watched by Sayed Abdel-Hafiz, a board member and acting head of football at the club.
\nThe result extends Al Ahly's dominance over Zamalek this month, across the first team and the various youth sectors.
\nThe 2011-born squad also thrashed their rivals 3-0 in the Republic Championship, while the senior team beat Zamalek 2-0 in the Egyptian Super Cup, and the 2007s added a dramatic 3-2 victory in a standout youth clash.
\nThree-Nil: The Start of the Red Wave
\nOn Friday, Al Ahly's U-11 youth side opened the month's run of derbies with a 3-0 win over Zamalek at the Al Ahly Stadium in Nasr City, as part of the ninth round of the Republic Championship.
\nIbrahim Amir Tawfik opened the scoring from inside the box, with the first half ending 1-0.
\nIn the second half he doubled his tally with a fine strike, before Saad Mohamed headed home the third in stoppage time, giving Al Ahly a 3-0 victory.
\nWith this win, the Ahly 2011 team's sits on 18 points from five wins and three draws, having scored 23 goals and conceded four.
\nThe 2011 squad's technical staff includes Mohamed Ragab as head coach, Ibrahim Youssef as general coach, Mustafa Mahmoud as goalkeeping coach, Sayed Haggag as administrator, Mohamed Foda as team doctor, and Mohamed Fawzi as the physiotherapist.
\nSenior Team and 2007 Clash: Red Wave Continues
\nTwo days later, the first team didn't miss a beat, beating Zamalek 2-0 at Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in the UAE to lift the Egyptian Super Cup.
\nOn the way there, Al Ahly had eliminated Ceramica Cleopatra 2-1 in the semi-finals at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium, while Zamalek knocked out Pyramids 5-4 on penalties after a goalless draw.
\nAhmed Sayed Zizo received the man-of-the-match award for his outstanding display.
\nOverall, the Super Cup adds to Al Ahly's tally of 16 honours and takes the club's total to 156 trophies across domestic, Arab, and African competitions.
\nThe 2007s continued the Red dominance by defeating Zamalek 3-2 at Al Ahly's Nasr City stadium, in the ninth round of the Republic Championship.
