Ahmed Sami steps in as Modern Sport's new head coach
Modern Sport Club has appointed Ahmed Sami as head coach, replacing Magdi Abdul-Aty after a 3-0 defeat to Wadi Degla in the Egyptian Capital Cup.
Sami took charge of Al Ittihad SC Alexandria at the start of the season before being dismissed for poor results; he has previously coached Smouha, Ceramica Cleopatra, Talaea El Gaish, Tanta and Nogoum.
A club source told Kooora that Sami will lead training after thanking Magdi Abdul-Aty and his staff in the past hours.
The new technical team will include Sami, Abdel-Baqi Gamal as general coach, Salah Amin and Mu'min Zakaria as assistants, and Hassan Nasr as goalkeeping coach.
Modern Sport sits twelfth in the Egyptian Premier League on 17 points after 13 rounds.
Punchline: If coaching were stand-up, Ahmed Sami just delivered a killer opening set.
Punchline 2: If the squad improves, even the coffee break will start selling tickets.
