Al Ahli Saudi FC is close to resolving a matter stalled for nearly a year by naming a new chief executive.

The position has been vacant since the departure of British executive Ron Gourley in April of last year, after Al Ahli publicly indicated in March that Gourley did not want to renew his contract.

Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadhiah reported that officials were close to naming a new chief executive within days, with negotiations reaching advanced stages.

Meanwhile the club's administration appointed Abdulrahman Al-Mohammadi as finance director, replacing Jordanian Saeed Metwally; Al-Mohammadi brings extensive accounting experience and has worked for numerous companies, and will begin his duties officially with the club on Wednesday.

Translation: the club finally gets a real boss.
