Match Report
Al Ahli swept past Al Nassr with a standout three-goal performance on Friday night, in Round 13 of the Saudi Pro League.
Iván Toni struck twice in the 7th and 20th minutes, while Merih Demiral added the third in the 55th minute of the first half, sealing the early advantage.
It marked the first time this season that Nassr had conceded more than two goals in a league fixture, as Ahli turned attack into points with a commanding display.
Nassr had previously conceded a brace against Al Ahli in last season's domestic Super Cup final, and also shipped two in a 1-2 loss to Al Ittihad in the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup round of 16, underscoring defensive concerns.
All told, this was Round 13 of the league, and Ahli's three-goal burst altered the momentum and kept the title race breathlessly open.
Punchline 1: If defense were a wound, Nassr just got a big puncture—and the goal net did all the healing.
Punchline 2: In football, timing is everything; tonight the ball found the back of the net like a good punchline finds the crowd.
