Ongoing hunt for a new contracts director
\nAl Ahly's football leadership has yet to settle on appointing a new Contracts Director, leaving Osama Hilal to carry out the duties for the time being.
\nA club source told Kooora that Osama Hilal, head of the scouting department, has been handling Contracts Director duties since Amir Tawfiq's departure to Al Ahli Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.
\nHe added that Sayed Abdel Hafiz, a board member and deputy supervisor of football operations, wants a comprehensive restructuring of the sector, creating a new Scouting Department and appointing a new Contracts Director.
\nHe noted: There are specific names under discussion for the role, led by Abdullah Shahatah, the legal advisor to the football company, Dr. Essam Sirag who previously held the post, and Nader Khalil who was a sports director at Sudan's Al-Merrikh.
\nThe source stressed that Al Ahly has not yet settled on a new Contracts Director, but an announcement could come in January.
\nAl Ahly are preparing to face Ceramica Cleopatra on Friday in the second round of Group A in the Cairo Capital Cup.
\nOutlook and upcoming clash
\nPunchline: In football, timing is everything—Al Ahly's director search is basically a standstill comedy, starring the calendar.
\nPunchline 2: If January finally delivers a Contracts Director, maybe the club will finally stop negotiating with the calendar and start negotiating with players instead.
