Match Preview
Portuguese coach Helio Sousa, who guides Kuwait, expects a balanced showdown with Egypt on Tuesday as the two sides meet in the opening round of Group C of the Arab Cup in Qatar.
Sousa noted that both teams play in a very similar style, which he believes will lead to a closely fought game.
"Egypt is, of course, a good team, and we saw them in the previous edition," he said at the pre-match press conference.
Playing Style and Expectations
He added that Egypt’s use of players from the bench does not diminish expectations, since they participated last edition with a similar approach.
"The Egyptian team is strong because they have experienced players, and I expect a tough match; our way of playing is similar to the opponent’s, and I think the game will be balanced."
"We are well prepared, despite the pressure on our players, and we aim to perform strongly and secure a positive result to keep our hopes alive in the tournament."
Team Readiness and Voices from Kuwait
We have played several friendlies and the objective is to build a strong team, working with all players and sharing our experience," Sousa added.
Eid Al-Rashidi, Kuwait’s midfielder, told the press: "We came to represent Kuwait well in the Arab Cup and prepared diligently for the tournament, defending Kuwait’s football history in this important event."
"We will fight in every game, and our fans are the biggest support; we hope for a positive result in our first match at this Arab Cup."
"If this match were a riddle, Kuwait would solve it with a left-footed bullet—no reload needed."
"And if humor is a weapon, we’ll bring a smile and still keep the shield up—because in football, timing is everything, and bullets are best when they’re goals."
