Barça Bids to Lock Christensen Down—Even With ACL Wrench in the Works
Christensen remains a central figure for Barcelona despite his injury setback.

Update

The Blaugrana's plan is ready to go.

Injury & Renewal

Spanish press reports on Saturday say Barcelona's management has decided to open talks to renew one of the team's players.

And Marca newspaper said Blaugrana plans to present an official offer to extend the Danish defender Andreas Christensen's contract by another year.

The newspaper indicated that signing the new contract will take place in the coming weeks, in the presence of club president Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco.

Christensen suffered a serious injury (partial tear of the ACL) that will keep him out at least until the end of the season, making a move this summer difficult.

The newspaper noted that the Catalan club did not want to leave its player in an embarrassing position, especially since he has not caused any problems in the squad and has fulfilled his role as a replacement with full professionalism and without any negative statements.

Christensen is a trusted international defender, proven every time he has had the chance, which strengthened the club's desire to keep his services as a defensive security.
