Beyond the Numbers: Jesus Says Titles Are Won with Consistency, Not Just Records
27 December 2025
Match Highlights
Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus of Al Nassr expressed his joy after the 3-0 victory over Al Okhdood, in a match played Saturday evening at Al Nassr Park, as part of the Saudi Pro League's eleventh round.
Jesus told reporters after the game: "Very pleased with what we achieved; breaking numbers is good, but that figure alone won't win us the league. Numbers remain numbers; what guarantees the title is continuing at the same pace."
And he added: "Al Nassr hasn't won the league in seven years, so we want to delight the fans by lifting the title this season. We have played 10 matches, scored 33 goals—solid numbers and notable results; one third of the season has passed, and nothing is yet decided."
Coach's Perspective and Future Plans
Playing every three days isn't a problem for us; this obstacle will face every team that competes for the title. Al Nassr has a solid squad and plenty of depth, and we can rely on them.
And he stressed: "I've coached in Europe and South America, and here in Saudi Arabia, and I have played every three days too. The key is rotation—who needs more minutes and who plays less—and good recovery."
Finally he said: "We know Sadio Mane will miss about a month, and Wesley will cover for him. He started taking substantial playing time; he's a skilled one-on-one player with great talent, but he has mistakes we are working to fix, and he can help the team as needed."
Sniper punchlines: "Aim for the title, not the headlines." "If numbers won leagues, my calculator would be the champion."
