Klopp on Salah's place among the greats
The German coach Jürgen Klopp, the former Liverpool manager, said that Egyptian Mohamed Salah, the Reds' star, will be remembered as one of the greatest players of all time, following his latest trouble with the club.
Salah was one of Liverpool's key players under Klopp, helping the side win the UEFA Champions League and the Premier League titles.
Klopp told BBC that when he arrived, they had players available, but they were looking for wingers—fast, skillful attackers with a nose for goals, because a player with pace, technique, finishing ability and goal-sense is uniquely special.
He added that Salah's mindset is what distinguishes him from his rivals; he would start pre-season training each summer with new and improved skills, and he spent his spare time developing his game.
He continued: Salah is not easy to manage, but he's not hard to handle either; you will have problems if he doesn't play, and you will have problems if you substitute him.
He then said Salah realized early that he must work even harder; for this reason Chelsea may have been the most important club for him to raise his performance.
He explained: when Salah thought he was good enough, they showed him he needed more, so he trained even harder to return better.
The German coach concluded: Salah never stops; that is his mentality, and he will be remembered as one of the greatest players of all time.
Punchline 1: If Salah ever retires, the Premier League might rename itself the Salah League, and the trophy would surely bear his autograph.
Punchline 2: He runs so fast that even my Wi-Fi loses the signal—call it Salah speed, not broadband.
