Danish tactician Sorup takes the helm at Al Ahly, vowing to reclaim glory and win big

He mentioned that Al Ahly has played three Club World Cup games and put in strong effort, and that his arrival is aimed at delivering the club’s desired achievements. He noted that he received other offers after working in a strong European league and that such interest is natural in football.
He described feeling strong interest when the offer arrived and said the talks with the club delegation who visited Denmark confirmed his pride in joining this historic institution.
He recalled sharing the field with Egyptian players such as Mahmoud Abouldahab and Abdel Stars Sabry and expressed hope to meet them again.
He stressed that he understands the pressure from the club’s huge fan base, more than 70 million Egyptians, and that the warm welcome at Cairo airport underscored the club’s value. He noted the media attention since the appointment and his commitment to success with his staff.
Sorup also congratulated the national team on qualifying for the World Cup finals, adding that many Al Ahly players are in the national squad, which reflects the club’s stature. He explained that international absences during international windows are normal and that he took over a few weeks into the season with little time before traveling to Burundi, but he is determined to implement his ideas with the players in the near future.
A closing note from Walid Salahuddin, the club’s director of football, praised Sorup as a good fit with a strong CV in top leagues and emphasized patience and support from fans as the coach begins his task with the team.
