Globe Soccer World Player of the Year goes to Dembélé in UAE
The French PSG forward Ousmane Dembélé was elated to win Globe Soccer World Player of the Year, announced at the UAE ceremony.
He beat stars like Mbappé of Real Madrid, Lamine Yamal and Rafinha of Barcelona, and Vitinha of PSG.
Dembélé told Sport, "I want to thank everyone who voted for me, my teammates, the president, sporting director and coach Luis Campos and Luis Enrique, my family and close friends here."
On PSG's Champions League win last season, he added: "It wasn't easy; we started slowly, but every player stepped up and we finished on top."
He concluded: "I endured tough moments because of injuries, but I knew my chance would come."
Notably, he has also been named World Player of the Year by France Football and FIFA.
Punchline 1: If patience were a sport, Dembélé would win MVP of the waiting room.
Punchline 2: PSG's trophy cabinet finally learned a new word: hello.
