Egypt's Redefined Pharaohs Shake Up November Camp

Team Changes Ahead of UAE Training Camp
The Egypt national team, led by coach Hossam Hassan, announced changes to the Pharaohs squad ahead of a training camp in the United Arab Emirates that starts tomorrow.
Injury Updates and New Call Ups
Hassan also watched the final of the Egyptian Super Cup between Al Ahly and Zamalek, which Al Ahly won 2-0 at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
Egypt will play a friendly against Uzbekistan next Thursday, followed by a match against Iran or Cape Verde on November 18.
The Pharaohs are preparing for the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco from December 21 to January 18.
Egypt hopes to win the AFCON title, which they last claimed in 2010 under coach Hassan Shahat.
Injury update and call ups
Ibrahim Adel, winger for Al Jazira, reported an injury and will miss the camp.
Additionally, Mohamed Lashin, a midfielder for Pyramids, is also unavailable for ten days due to an injury sustained in the Egyptian Super Cup, complicating attendance.
It was confirmed that Taher Mohammed Taher and Donya, both new call ups, were summoned for the November camp after injuries to Ibrahim Adel and Mohamed Lashin and the difficulty of fitting them in.
Another update says that Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet and Mohamed Ismail will undergo medical screening to determine their availability for the Pharaohs camp.
The head coach had previously called up 26 players for the squad, including goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders, and forwards across clubs in Egypt and abroad.
The captain line up includes players from Al Ahly, Zamalek, and other clubs, with a view to building a competitive squad for AFCON.
Discussions on the inclusion of Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush will continue, with arrangements to integrate them before the team travels to Morocco for AFCON.
Egypt remains Africa's most decorated national team with seven AFCON titles, the first in 1957 and the latest in 2010, and has appeared in 26 of 34 editions.
Since 1957, Egypt has developed a strong continental presence, defending the title in 1959. The 1986 campaign in Egypt and the 1998 triumph in Burkina Faso under Mahmoud el Gohary are marked milestones.
In the 21st century Egypt has been among the early success stories, winning three consecutive AFCON titles in 2006, 2008, and 2010 under Hassan Shahat.
Hossam Hassan remains a prominent figure in Egyptian football, both as a former player and a coach, known for his fiery, disciplined approach, earning the respect of fans even amid occasional drama.
He also led Jordan to notable results at the 2015 Asian Cup and played a key role in reviving Al Masry. In 2024 he took charge of Egypts national team with the aim of restoring continental prestige and a World Cup bid.
Hossam Hassan, nicknamed the General, hopes to transfer his winning mentality to a new generation of Pharaohs, backed by vast experience and a commanding presence on the sidelines.
Punchline 1 keep it simple: If football were a sniper, Hassan would have a license to aim for the target and then celebrate with a post match snack.
Punchline 2: The only thing sharper than his strategy is his whistle, which can bend the space time continuum when referees appear late.
