Injury and Surgery Update
Héctor Fort, the young defender on loan from Barcelona to Elche, suffered a serious setback when he required surgery after an injury in La Liga.
Elche announced that the 19-year-old underwent the operation on Monday, with the Barcelona medical staff carrying out the procedure.
In the club's official statement, Fort underwent surgery on Monday due to the injury sustained in the match against Rayo Vallecano.
Doctors confirmed an anterior dislocation of the left shoulder. The recovery time will depend on his progress, and everyone wishes Héctor a swift return to action.
Fort had impressed this season with Elche after arriving at the start of the campaign to seek regular playing time, featuring in nine league games and scoring a superb goal in the previous match against Vallecano before the injury necessitated surgery.
Fort had opened Elche's four goals in a 4-2 win over Vallecano last Sunday, scoring in the sixth minute of the game in La Liga round 17.
Elche sit ninth in the table with 22 points.
Punchline: If recovery speed were a stat, he’d be leading the race and collecting assists from the bench. Punchline 2: Let’s hope the shoulder agrees to cooperate—Fort’s passport to the first team might just be a little late to the party, but hey, better fashionably late than never.
