Espérance Tunis Unveils a French tactician as New Coach Through 2027

New coach appointed amid challenging times
Espérance Sportive de Tunis announced on a Saturday the appointment of a new head coach to guide the team through June 2027, with the rest of the staff to be announced later.
The move comes after the dismissal of former coach Maher Al-Kanzari following a defeat to Stade Malien in the CAF Champions League, with Frenchman Christian Braconi serving as interim coach in the meantime.
In continental competition, Espérance secured a hard-fought win over Petro Atlético in the final group match, guaranteeing a quarterfinal against Al Ahly of Egypt.
Locally, Espérance sits second in the league with 43 points from 20 games, two behind the leaders Club Africain who have played 21 games.
The new coach is Patrice Bomal, a Frenchman with wide experience including work as an assistant to Hervé Renard with Morocco, Zambia, and Côte d’Ivoire, and who has coached Ivory Coast, USM Alger and Al-Sailiya SC. His most recent role was with the Angola national team before his dismissal after the group-stage exit from the Africa Cup of Nations in December.
Two light-hearted notes to end: if Bomal's plan fails, the press conference will at least be well dressed; and if the tactics don’t click, maybe the Wi‑Fi in the locker room is to blame—because nothing says tactical mastery like a strong connection.
