Al-Nassr's Mentality Shines in a 5-1 Win
Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus, manager of Saudi club Al-Nassr, said that beating Iraqi side Al-Zawraa 5-1 on Wednesday night proves the strong mentality of his players and their confidence going forward together.
Raising their tally to 18 points, Al-Nassr find themselves atop the AFC Champions League 2 group, sealing a deserved last-16 berth tonight.
Jesus praised the display, saying, 'We performed superbly despite a 28-day gap without official fixtures; our squad is special and capable of five goals, when executed with the right focus and teamwork tonight'.
He added: 'Mental strength and focus fueled this win; the team has more to show, so I rested a few players after securing the result tonight anyway'.
The Portuguese coach also expressed happiness at having many international players, noting several now play for Saudi Arabia, a factor that will strengthen options going forward moving ahead.
And he concluded: 'Abdulilah Al-Amri is a player with great potential, who today demonstrated a standout level, this season'.
Punchline: If mentality were a passport, Al-Nassr would have visa-free access to the knockout rounds. Punchline 2: The only thing sharper than their focus is the coach's post-match smile, safer than a VAR review.
