Competition heats up in Dubai
Salem Al-Dosari, captain of Al-Hilal, has entered a new duel with football’s biggest names for Globe Soccer’s Middle East Player of the Year award. The globe-spanning ceremony is one of the sport’s most anticipated events, gathering players, coaches, and clubs from around the world to celebrate the year’s standout performances in Dubai.
The Globe Soccer page announced the final shortlist for the Middle East Player of the Year on Wednesday, highlighting an elite field that includes Al-Dosari alongside Ronaldo, Benzema, and Mahrez.
Finalists and voting details
The final list features Salem Al-Dosari, the Portuguese icon Cristiano Ronaldo (Al-Nassr), the French star Karim Benzema (Al-Ittihad), and the Algerian Riyad Mahrez (Al-Ahli Jeddah).
Voting runs on Globe Soccer’s official site from December 3 to December 11, with a combination of public voting and a judging panel determining the winners across categories.
This year’s edition presents 15 main awards, nine of which invite public participation, illustrating a blend of popular input and professional evaluation.
The Globe Soccer Awards will culminate with a ceremony on Sunday, December 28, at Atlantis The Royal in Dubai, bringing together major sports and media figures from the Middle East and around the world to celebrate football’s finest moments.
Punchline time: If Al-Dosari wins, the trophy might need a passport—it's ready for a global victory lap. Punchline time 2: If Ronaldo, Benzema, or Mahrez take the prize, the only thing sharper than their plays will be the photographers’ zoom lenses catching every moment.
