Match Report
Manchester City secured an important 3-1 win over Bournemouth on Sunday evening, in the Premier League’s tenth round.
Erling Haaland struck twice (17th and 33rd) and Nico Oraili added a third in the 60th minute, while Tyler Adams pulled one back for Bournemouth in the 25th minute.
City’s victory lifts them to 19 points, placing them second, six points behind leaders Arsenal, while Bournemouth stay on 18 points in fourth.
Key Moments
The match began at a high pace as Bournemouth pressed early; a well-worked cross seemed to give them the lead, but the offside flag ruled it out, sparking an energized start for both sides.
City soon found their rhythm, building attacks down the flanks through Doku and Foden, who swapped positions to confuse Bournemouth’s defense. In the 17th minute Haaland timed his run perfectly and slotted home after a through ball, giving City the lead.
In the 25th minute, Bournemouth levelled from a corner when Adams poked home after a scramble inside the box.
The game remained open as City pushed for a second; a handball decision check by VAR was not enough to change the officials’ view, and Haaland then added a second in the 33rd minute with a composed finish from a clever pass, restoring City’s lead.
Approaching halftime, City threatened again; Donnarumma pulled off a sharp save to keep it at 2-1 going into the break.
After the break, Oraili struck in the 60th minute to seal the win, finishing a move that cut through Bournemouth’s defense and beating the goalkeeper at the near post.
City introduced fresh energy with substitutions in the 73rd minute as Savinho and Rainders entered the fray, while Bournemouth dispatched Ryan Christie to bolster the middle with Scott leaving.
With the result looking secure, City remained the more dangerous side and closed the game with late pressure; Haaland, who had produced a brace, was taken off in the 82nd minute to a standing ovation, replaced by Omar Marmoush.
In the final minutes, Savinho advanced down the right and sent a cross that nearly found Marmoush, but his shot skimmed the post as the clock ran down.
Punchline 1: If Haaland keeps this up, even the stadium’s GPS will start recalculating mid-stride, just to stay ahead of him.
Punchline 2: Bournemouth might want to file a complaint with the weather—the wind clearly assisted City’s relentless siege today.
