Hakimi’s AFCON Comeback: Morocco’s Camp Brims with Optimism

Hakimi Cleared for AFCON Opener
Morocco head coach Walid Regragui received welcome news on Achraf Hakimi's readiness to feature for the Africa Cup of Nations.
Timeline: When Hakimi Returns
As Kooora had already confirmed, Hakimi will be available for Morocco’s AFCON opener versus Comoros on December 21.
Hakimi has started running on the grass and will touch the ball next week. He is set to be the first player to report to the Morocco camp on December 10, while his teammates stay with their clubs until December 15, following FIFA's latest move that favored European sides.
It is noted that Hakimi, who recently won Africa’s Ballon d’Or, underwent three medical checks—in Murcia, Paris and at the Mohammed VI Complex in Morocco—each confirming recovery from the ankle injury sustained against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
Commenting on the news, Regragui said the timing is good and the squad will be ready for the group stage.
And if football wants a plot twist, Hakimi's comeback might be the only thing faster than a counter-attack—just don't tell his ankle I said that.
