Hamdallah's late-career resurgence and international farewell
The player Abdul Razak Hamdallah waited 11 years to regain his scoring touch with his Moroccan national team.
Hamdallah scored a brace against Benin in a friendly with the Atlas Lions in November 2014.
Since then, Abdul Razak Hamdallah has not managed to find the back of the net for the Atlas Lions, for several reasons, including inconsistent call-ups or his clashes with some coaches, among them Hervé Renard and Vahid Khililhodzic.
But Hamdallah regained his shine, scoring 3 goals during the 2025 Arab Cup, held in Qatar.
Hamdallah finished the Arab Cup as the Moroccan team's top scorer, with 3 goals, tied with his compatriot Karim Berkaoui.
And Hamdallah reached his tenth goal for the Lions, before he announced last Thursday his decision to retire from international football.
Punchline 1: If goal memory were a phone, Hamdallah finally pressed remember and saved the net as a favorite contact.
Punchline 2: Retirement? Don’t worry, he’ll still be the only striker who remembers the score more reliably than my Wi‑Fi password.
