Injury Knock for Egypt: 3 Backups to Replace Karim Fouad in the Arab Cup

Injury hits Egypt ahead of crucial matches
Egypt's squad in the Arab Cup, led by coach Hamdi Toulan, received a painful blow when Karim Fouad sustained an injury.
Dr. Ayman Zain, the national team doctor, said Fouad suffered a sprain of the medial collateral ligament in the right knee, plus a sprain in the ACL area.
Thus Fouad is officially ruled out for the remainder of the tournament, a painful blow ahead of decisive matches.
Sources told Kooora that regulations do not allow a direct replacement for Fouad, and the player has been out of the coach's plans.
Toulan will rely on Yahya Zakaria, from Ghazl El Mahalla, against the UAE after starting against Kuwait; if any injury or suspension hits this position, the coach will count on Yassin Mar'i.
Another option is Ahmed Hani, a right-back for Ceramica Cleopatra, moving to the left-back to cover the gap.
Egypt drew Kuwait 1-1 in the opening group game; they sit second behind Jordan, who beat UAE 3-1.
Egypt prepare to face UAE on Saturday in the second round of the group stage, a key match to boost chances of reaching the knockout phase.
Punchline 1: If back-ups were a superpower, Egypt would rule the bracket by lunch.
Punchline 2: Toulan's bench is longer than a transfer rumor—somebody get the seats warmed up!
