The German striker Niklas Volkrog, who joined Milan from West Ham United in the January window, will miss the upcoming Como match due to a toe fracture sustained at the end of the Milan-Fiorentina game.

Volkrog joined on loan until the end of the season with an option to buy.

He trained with the Rossoneri throughout the week before his formal unveiling on January 2, and he played his first Serie A match later that night in a 1-0 win away at Cagliari.

He then appeared as a substitute for the second consecutive match in Milan's 1-1 draw with Genoa at San Siro, before starting on Sunday in the 1-1 draw with Fiorentina.

According to Italian outlet Football Italia, Volkrog suffered a broken toe at the end of the Milan-Fiorentina match, meaning he will be out for a period after clocking only 106 minutes for Milan since joining.

It's not yet clear how long he'll be out, but he is expected to miss Thursday's Serie A match away at Como.

His absence is a blow for Massimiliano Allegri, the Rossoneri coach, who is also without forward Santiago Giménez for a spell and may have to line up against Como without Rafael Leao.
