Alwan fires again as Jordan push toward semifinals
Ali Alwan, the Jordanian national team star, continues to shine at the 2025 Arab Cup in Qatar, scoring a crucial goal against Iraq in the quarterfinals.
The winner of this match advances to the semifinals to face Saudi Arabia, who had defeated Palestine 2-1 to reach the next round.
Alwan opened the scoring from a penalty, expertly dispatched in the 41st minute of the first half.
With this strike, Alwan moved clear of Mohammed Kano, the Saudi midfielder, on the tournament's top-scorer list with four goals.
Kano had linked the score for Saudi with his late winner against Palestine in the 115th minute of extra time.
To date, Alwan has scored in all of Jordan's Arab Cup appearances, against the UAE, Kuwait, Egypt and Iraq.
