Kuwait Extends a Dream Invite: A 1982 World Cup Legend Heads to the French Super Cup

A gesture of loyalty to Kuwait's golden generation
Saeed Al-Houti, captain of Kuwait’s 1982 World Cup squad in Spain, expressed thanks to Kuwait Football Association president Sheikh Ahmed Al-Yousif Al-Sabah and the board for their loyalty to the federation.
This followed the federation inviting Kuwait’s World Cup coach in Spain, Brazilian Carlos Alberto Pereira, and his family, along with the rest of the squad, to attend the French Super Cup on January 8 at Jaber Al-Ahmad Stadium in Kuwait.
Each member and player from Kuwait’s 1982 World Cup squad in Spain will be offered 10 VIP invitations, with special seating arranged for the golden generation.

The Kuwait Football Association had earlier announced the French Super Cup would be staged in Kuwait, pitting Paris Saint-Germain, Ligue 1 champions and Cup holders, against Olympique de Marseille, league runners-up.
The 1982 Kuwait squad included Ahmed Tarablisi, Jassem Bahman and Adam Murjan as goalkeepers; in defense were Sami Al-Hashash, Walid Al-Jassem, Jamal Yaquob, Mubarak Marzook, Abdullah Mayouf, Mahboob Jumaa, Naeem Saad and Hamoud Falaitah.
In midfield were Abdullah Al-Balushi, Nasser Al-Ghannam, Saad Al-Houti, Yusuf Swied and Mohammed Karm; in attack Abdulaziz Hasan, Mouaid Al-Haddad, Abdulaziz Al-Anbari, Faisal Al-Dakhil, Fathi Kamel and Jassem Yaquob.
Punchline: Kuwait just turned loyalty into a starting XI.
