Kuwait Gears Up to Host the Saudi Super Cup: A Gulf Football Power Move
Kuwait eyes hosting the Saudi Super Cup as regional clubs gear up for a major showdown.

Kuwait Moves Toward Hosting the Saudi Super Cup

Abdul Rahman Al-Mutairi, Kuwait's Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs, said his country is moving toward hosting the Saudi Super Cup in its next edition.

In statements to Al Arabiya's official site, he added: "Correspondence and coordination with the Saudi authorities have reached advanced stages, paving the way for a final decision."

Al-Mutairi stressed: "The Kuwait Ministry of Youth is keen to strengthen sports partnerships to achieve national objectives and to cement Kuwait's status as a regional hub for hosting major championships."

He added: "Hosting the Saudi Super Cup fits the ministry's strategy to boost Kuwait's presence on the map of major sports events, continuing efforts to attract global showcases after hosting the French Super Cup in Kuwait on January 8."

Four clubs are set to participate in the 2025-2026 Saudi Cup, led by Al-Ittihad, champions of the Roshn League and the King Cup.

Al-Qadsia, runner-up of the King Cup, Al-Nassr third in Roshn, and Al-Hilal were in the tournament as league runners-up, but with Al-Hilal's withdrawal Al-Ahli took their place.

Punchline 1: If Kuwait hosts the Saudi Super Cup, the trophy will travel lighter than the players—it's already carrying a passport and a sunscreen.

Punchline 2: If the game goes to extra time, the only thing overworked will be the stadium Wi‑Fi—because even the whistle needs buffering.
