Leonardo extends his scoring run in the Riyadh derby
The Brazilian Marcus Leonardo, Al Hilal's sharpest spearhead, kept his hot streak alive as the big derby against Riyadh unfolded.
Leonardo opened the scoring for Al Hilal in the Riyadh clash on Sunday at Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium, in the 18th round of the Roshen Saudi League.
This goal marked his first against Riyadh in the league, after last season’s efforts went unrewarded despite his appearances in both legs.
With this strike, Riyadh becomes the 16th team he has netted against, after finding the net against 15 clubs in the competition over the past two seasons.
Al Akhdood stands out as his chief victim in the Saudi campaign, with four goals against them, followed by tallies against Al Fateh (3) and Al Ettifaq, Al Fayha, Al Ittihad, Damac, and Al Arabi (2 each).
In contrast, the 22-year-old has yet to score against four opponents he has faced in the league: Al Nassr, Al Hazm, Al Najmah, and Neom.
Key stats and notes
Punchline time: If goals were emails, Leonardo would have a full inbox after this derby. Punchline two: the net must be getting paid by the hour after another beauty from the Brazilian striker.
