Milan Locks In Alexis Salimaikers' Future Through 2031
15 December 2025
Extension Announcement and Dates
AC Milan officially announced on Monday that Belgian midfielder Alexis Salimaikers has extended his contract with the club until the summer of 2031.
The agreement will take effect from July 1, 2026 and will continue under its current terms through the end of the 2025-2026 season.
Milan’s official statement added: "We are pleased to confirm that Alexis Salimaikers has renewed his contract through June 30, 2031, effective from July 1, 2026".
Growth, Role, and Financial Details
Since arriving in January 2020, Salimaikers has developed each season, showcasing professionalism, selflessness, and a strong sense of belonging both on the pitch and away from it.
The original deal was due to expire in 2027, meaning he would have entered the last 12 months of his contract this summer had Milan not acted.
Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Salimaikers’ salary will rise from about €1.2 million per season to roughly €3 million in the coming years.
Salimaikers has been a mainstay since Allegri’s appointment this summer, starting all 15 league fixtures so far this season.
Future Outlook and Fan Perspective
The extension also locks in a long-term plan for Milan’s midfield rebuild after the uncertainty around contract cycles.
Milan’s staff described Salimaikers as a core member whose growth and professionalism embody the club’s values both on and off the field.
With the deal set to begin in mid-2026, the timing aligns with Milan’s intent to stabilize a midfield that has contributed in a busy 2024-25 campaign.
Fans welcomed the news as a sign of a growth-focused strategy, even as summer speculation about other positions continues.
Punchlines: This contract is so long the calendar at the club needs a mortgage. Salimaikers’ loyalty is so solid that Milan could file him as a fixed asset on the balance sheet.
