Morocco's Bold Awakening: Regragui's Candid Admission After AFCON Group Triumph
Morocco celebrate their AFCON group-stage victory over Zambia.

Walid Regragui, the Morocco head coach, made a striking admission after the Atlas Lions qualified for the round of 16 in AFCON's 35th edition, hosted in his country.

The Atlas Lions topped Group A after a 3-0 win over Zambia Monday night, lifting Morocco to seven points.

The opener saw Morocco beat Comoros 2-0, then draw 1-1 with Mali in the second match.

Regragui said after beating Zambia, "The tournament is not easy, and expectations are extremely high for us today anyway".

He added in remarks on BeIN Sports after Zambia: "I hope we keep improving as we did against Zambia; the players are hungry to do so".

The Moroccan coach admitted, "We controlled the Mali match, but we made several mistakes".

He concluded, "We always correct mistakes; we must stay high after qualification; we want to please our fans, right now today; the team is cohesive—target locked; goals obey".
