Masry of Port Said secured a precious victory over visitors Smouha by 2-0 at the New Suez Stadium on Monday in the fifth round of Group C of the Cairo Capital Cup.
The Egyptian club's opener came from Ahmed El-Qarmouti in the 37th minute, and Mohamed El-Shamy added the second in stoppage time at 90+4.
Masry, under Tunisian coach Nabil Kouki, rose to 10 points and sits top of the group, inching toward an official quarterfinal berth.
Smouha, led by Ahmed Abdelaziz, stay on five points in fourth place.

In Group A, Mokawloon and Ghazl El Mahalla shared the spoils, drawing 1-1.
Shousha put Mahalla ahead in the 60th minute, while Mohamed Abdel Nasser equalized for Mokawloon in the 73rd.
Mokawloon, coached by Sami Khamsan, moved to five points in fourth place, one point ahead of Ghazl El Mahalla in fifth, who are led by Alaa Abdel Aal.
