PSG issues official injury update for four players
Paris Saint-Germain released an official update confirming injuries to four players after their 2-1 loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League. The players sidelined are Ashraf Hakimi, Ousmane Dembélé, Nuno Mendes and Désiré Dou.
Hakimi is out with a severe left ankle sprain and will miss several weeks. Dembélé has a calf injury and will follow a weeks-long rehabilitation. Mendes twists his left knee and will remain under medical care for weeks. Désiré Dou continues rehabilitation from a thigh muscle injury, with further updates expected after the international window.
Dembélé was substituted after 25 minutes; he had just returned from a thigh muscle injury that kept him out for more than six weeks. Louis Enrique had to bring on a substitute shortly after the half-hour mark.
The club added that Dou remains in rehabilitation from his hamstring issue, with more news to come after the international break.
In the match, Bayern took the lead through Luis Díaz in the 4th and 32nd minutes, while PSG pulled one back through Joao Neves in the 72nd. Hakimi left the field on crutches, adding to the mounting injury woes.
The injury cast a shadow over Hakimi's participation in the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, scheduled from December 21 to January 18, 2026. French newspaper L'Equipe suggested a 3–5 week absence pending medical tests on Wednesday. Hakimi left Parc des Princes with protective footwear and crutches.
Dembele's calf pain and Mendes's knee issue, plus Dou's hamstring rehab, will be monitored after the break. Enrique emphasized the need for careful recovery to help PSG and Morocco.
Hakimi is considered a leading contender for Africa's Ballon d'Or thanks to PSG’s success this year, including the Champions League and the European Super Cup. Hakimi joined PSG in 2021 from Inter Milan for 60 million euros and extended his contract to 2029. He has played 189 matches for PSG, scoring 27 goals with 38 assists, plus 28 yellows and three reds.
Luis Díaz, Bayern’s star, posted an apology on Instagram to Hakimi, wishing him a speedy return to the pitch.
Punchlines: sniper mode engaged — 1) If injuries were goals, PSG would already be champions of the world. 2) The real training montage this week is PSG’s medical staff sprinting from bed to physio with fashionably optimistic swagger.
