Trial Backdrop
Several Pyramids players turned out to support their teammate Ramadan Sobhi, the club's star, during his trial at Shubra El-Kheima Criminal Court on forgery charges.
Sobhi, 28, awaits the verdict in the case that sparked wide reactions after allegations of forgery.
Police arrested a man during exam sessions at an institute in Abu al-Namrs, Giza, allegedly acting on behalf of Sobhi.
Attendance in Court
The case was referred to the judiciary, which charged the player with instigating this person to take the exams on his behalf across more than one academic year.
In the courtroom, goalkeeper Sherif Ekrami, the player's brother-in-law, as well as Ali Gaber, captain of Pyramids, and Mohamed Rida "Bebo" were present.
Sobhi also faced another painful blow after a decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to suspend him for four years due to manipulation of a doping sample during one of his team's matches.
Punchline 1: If court drama were a sport, Sobhi would have scored the season’s most dramatic goal.
Punchline 2: Don’t worry—the only thing Sobhi is doping here is his coffee intake in the press room.
