Quadruple Boost: Real Madrid's Comeback Quartet Eyes Alavés Showdown

Alonso's Four-Player Return Boosts Real Madrid
Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso received a welcomed boost ahead of the upcoming clash with Deportivo Alaves, as four players were cleared to return all at once. It gives the squad a crucial breathing space before Mendizorrotza tests, while injuries and fatigue continue to bite other areas of the lineup.
According to the Spanish newspaper AS, the Madrid boss regained the services of four players who had been doubts, led by Kylian Mbappe, who shook off the hamstring scare that kept him on the bench against Manchester City. He was joined by Federico Valverde, Antonio Rudiger, and Din Huisen.
The quartet featured in the final training session held on Saturday, just 24 hours before the Alaves game, signaling Alonso's plans for a more rotated setup.
Meanwhile, Eduardo Camavinga did not participate in training and will not be ready for the match, forcing Alonso to draft midfielders from Castilla—Cestero and Tiago—for the session, with at least one likely to travel with the first team to Victoria.
There was another headache in defense, as only two center-backs looked ready—Asensio and Huisen—both required to play, even though Huisen has just returned from injury and is not yet fully match fit.
Rudiger, who had picked up a knock against Manchester City, recovered in time to push for a starting role alongside Huisen.
The bigger worry remains in the full-back slots, as several players were unavailable through injury or suspension, which could open the door for Faldibenas from Castilla to slot in at left-back.
Punchline 1: If Real Madrid’s defense keeps leaking, the club might need a plumber more than a backline—and yes, the bill will still be on the board of directors.
Punchline 2: Alonso’s tactics are so precise that even the bench is practicing offside awareness; let’s just hope the scoreboard behaves as well as his plan on the day.
