Ramadan Sobhi Transfer Talk Debunked: Pyramids Dials In On Mawily & Touré’s Futures

Ramadan Sobhi: No Official Talks Yet
Hany Saeed, the sporting director of Pyramids FC, confirmed there have been no official or even friendly offers from Zamalek to sign Ramadan Sobhi, the team’s winger. He stated on television that he hears a lot about negotiations with Zamalek, but all of it lacks accuracy. He added that, officially, there are no negotiations, and he cannot be sure whether the chatter comes from agents or the player himself; some matters may seem difficult today but could be possible later, a stance not related to Ramadan Sobhi’s position.
We have not entered negotiations to sign Hossam Abdelmaged, nor considered a swap deal involving Sobhi heading to Zamalek. Sobhi remains a big player, yet he has suffered an unusual run of injuries since the season began.
He added that Sobhi will travel to Germany for precise medical tests to determine what ails him, and current indications suggest he needs about a month before returning to group training.
He also clarified that the coaching staff, led by Croatian coach Krunoslav Yurčić, has not requested Ramadan Sobhi’s departure. Sobhi’s status remains outside the current plans due to injuries, not because of a lack of value on the field.
Mawily and Blati Touré: Status and Renewals
Foi Saeed explained that Mawily is continuing with the team and his contract ends at the end of the season. He expected Mawily’s continued impact, noting that Mawily’s signing was based on a complete footballing assessment and that, in his view, the African player integrates best with the squad here rather than elsewhere.
He described Blati Touré’s rise alongside Burkina Faso’s national team in past Africa Cup of Nations and highlighted that Touré was signed on a free transfer and is among the team’s best performers. He added that both Mawily’s and Blati Touré’s contracts expire at season’s end and the club is aggressively pursuing renewals, with negotiations conducted according to the tactical plan and a satisfying financial package for both sides.
He stressed that any club is free to negotiate any player in the last six months of a contract, so Mawily and Touré have not entered negotiations with other clubs yet. The club expresses confidence in its players’ desire to keep shining with Pyramids.
The sporting director also noted that Walid El Karti will remain with the squad and that no offers have been made to part with Moroccan Mohammed Chebbi, who is among the team’s best players. He praised Yurčić as a superb technical director who does not fake anything.
The Toughest Championship and the Club’s Journey
Saeed said Pyramids has claimed four titles so far: the CAF Champions League, the Egypt Cup, the CAF Super Cup, and another major competition, underscoring that the CAF Champions League was the toughest and most significant title. He added that every trophy tastes special, but the CAF Champions League posed the strongest challenges, with crucial matches and intense competition ahead.
He outlined upcoming objectives including approaching the semi-finals of the Intercontinental Cup and defending their domestic league crown, along with continued involvement in Africa’s premier club competition.
On the club’s journey, he explained that Pyramids is a relatively young club in Egyptian football, formally established in 2008 as El Assiouty under owner Mohamed El Assiouti. The club rose through the ranks to reach the Premier League in 2014-2015 under the new name, then briefly dropped before returning in 2017-2018 after Saudi investor Turki Al Sheikh acquired a stake and rebranded the club as Pyramids. Al Sheikh installed Hossam El Badry as president and a new leadership team, transforming the club’s ambitions and facilities. After a period of rapid development, ownership changed hands in 2019 to an Emirati investor, with the team continuing to push for domestic and continental glory.
The current season has been framed by the need to balance squad depth with financial prudence, while maintaining competitive performance in an increasingly demanding landscape.
Punchline time: If football transfers were a dating app, this saga would have you swiping right on suspense and left on silence. And as for injuries—they’re basically the plot twist that shows up uninvited to every transfer party. One more for the road: the only thing sharper than a striker’s finish is a rumor mill turning faster than a winger’s sprint. Sniper mode: if gossip paid the bills, the transfer market would be a tax-free miracle—unfortunately for us, it only pays with patience and paperwork.
