Ramos Eyes a Milan Return: A Budget-Smart Gamble in January

Ramos on Milan's radar
Ramos, the Real Madrid icon and Monterrey standout, is edging toward a winter return to Europe via Italy.
At 39, the Spaniard left Real Madrid years ago and in the summer of 2024 started a fresh challenge in Mexico with Monterrey.
His contract with the Mexican club runs out at the end of December.
European spark without the price tag
According to Italian newspaper La Repubblica, Ramos' intermediaries have floated the idea to Milan, as the former Madrid captain eyes another European spell starting in January.
Milan are indeed seeking a new centre-back in January, provided the deal stays affordable for the Rossoneri's balance sheet.
Milan had earlier lost Malick Thiaw to Newcastle United in last summer's window, before signing Belgian defender Koen Di Winter from Genoa.
Di Winter has yet to anchor a first-team role, even as head coach Massimiliano Allegri relies on a three-man backline.
In other Rossoneri news, club officials confirmed striker Niclas Vollkrog arrived at the training ground to bolster the attack.
The German international joins on loan from West Ham United, with an option to buy set at €5 million plus add-ons.
Vollkrog is expected to sign after medical tests, with a contract through June and a yearly wage around €1.3 million, rising to €3.5 million if the buy option is triggered.
Punchlines: If this deal lands, Milan’s defense might finally age like fine wine; and if Ramos flops, at least the memes will be evergreen.
