Renard's World Cup Dream: Saudi Arabia Aims Higher Ahead of 2026 Draw

Renard's World Cup Ambition
French coach Hervé Renard, head coach of Saudi Arabia, revealed his wish ahead of the World Cup 2026 draw.
Renard is in Washington, D.C., at the John F. Kennedy Center for the ceremony that will determine the group phase path for the 2026 Mundial, hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
Draw Day and Reflections
Renard said in television remarks, "Happy to be at the edition of the World Cup; our goal is to achieve the best and better than 2022."
He added, "The Green's team were lucky in their match against Argentina, achieving a historic victory, and we hope to repeat it."
He concluded, "What I said to the players at halftime in the Qatar World Cup is remembered by everyone."
FIFA later confirmed that Renard will attend the 2026 World Cup draw in the United States, as the Green were playing Comoros in the Arab Cup. A FIFA spokesman said coaches were officially invited to the draw, along with an accompanying workshop.
Punchlines: If Renard’s plan were a sniper shot, it would land in the top corner—calm, precise, and a little merciless. And if the draw misfires, at least the US coffee will be world-class while the football drama brews.
