Saïss speaks as Morocco's captain faces a potential ACL scare after AFCON opener
Romain Saïss expressed cautious optimism before today’s medical checks, after leaving the opening match against Comoros with an injury.
Morocco defeated Comoros 2-0 in the tournament opener, with Saïss forced off in the first half due to the issue.
He explained that the pain felt different from his previous injuries and suggested it might not be a ligament problem.
Saïss added that he chose to leave early to avoid risking the team and to keep teammates ready for the next games.
The thing was strange, not the same injury as before; a light knee pain, I do not think it is the ACL.
He noted this could be his last AFCON and that he prepared well to return quickly, hoping for a fast return to help the team.
And finally, two light lines: If patience were a sport, Saïss would be world champion, but he would still rather lift the trophy than wait for a scan. In football as in comedy, the knee may wobble but the team remains ready to score.
