Sailiya Cruise past Al-Gharafa 3-0
Sailiya defeated Al-Gharafa 3-0 at Hamad bin Khalifa Stadium on Friday evening, in the fifth round of the Qatar Cup.
Sailiya’s goals came from Abdul Rahman Mohammed, Khaled Ali, and Hadi Ali, sending them to 9 points while Al-Gharafa remained on a single point.
Al-Wakrah then drew 1-1 with Al-Kharaitiyat, with Raul Di Tomás putting Wakrah ahead in the first half and Giorgi Gjeli replying for Kharaitiyat in the second half.
Wakrah earned their first point, while Al-Kharaitiyat moved to 10 points, temporarily topping the standings.
Al-Bidda and Mesaimeer played to a 2-2 draw at Al-Khor Stadium, with Amanallah Al-Muharrizi and Kristian Bilo scoring for Al-Bidda, and Etian Morales and Albert Ramis replying for Mesaimeer.
The round’s schedule then featured seven more matches over the weekend, including Mesaimier vs Lusail, Al-Rayyan vs Al-Wakrah, Shhania vs Al-Khor, and Al-Shamal vs Al-Marqiya.
Mesaimier’s clash with Lusail was set for Jassim bin Hamad Stadium, while Rayyan and Al-Wakrah took the field at the Second Jasim bin Hamad Stadium to seek momentum.
Shania and Al-Khor prepared for a competitive duel, with Shania aiming to build on recent form and Al-Khor hoping to climb the table. Al-Shamal vs Al-Marqiya promised a tighter contest as both sides chase consistency.
The late slate of fixtures also includes Duhail against Al-Arabi, and Al-Ahli facing Qatar, with Al-Sadd meeting Umm Salal in what could be a defining weekend for many teams.
In short, the Qatar Cup is delivering drama, parity, and a reminder that nothing is settled early in a season where every point counts.
Punchline 1: If football were a talent show, Sailiya just did a full 180 on Al-Gharafa—three acts, zero encore for the guests.
Punchline 2: The table’s getting tighter than a referee’s whistle after a late goal. Expect more plot twists before the final whistle this weekend.
