Scholes blasts Amorim over Maino’s chances

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes sharply criticized the way manager Ruben Amorim handles young midfielder Koby Maino, insisting it is nonsensical for a talent of this caliber to sit on the bench in a team that struggles to control matches.

Amorim defended his decisions, saying Maino is treated as a starter like others, but he must choose for wins.

Scholes remains unconvinced, especially after Maino again sat on the bench in the recent West Ham game, a match United tried to protect a 1-0 lead before conceding a late equalizer.

On Instagram, Scholes posted a direct response to Amorim, calling the remarks nonsense and saying the youngster is being destroyed. He argued that a club that cannot control the match should not assist development by keeping him on the bench.

Scholes warned that the player's future could be at risk if the current approach continues.

In the West Ham encounter, Amorim chose five substitutes: Mason Mount, Manuel Ugarte, Patrik Dorjo, Lenny Euro, and Lisandro Martinez, without bringing Maino on, despite the team's need to control midfield.

After the match, the coach was asked why not include an attacking option to help keep the ball; Amorim laughed and asked who would make the attacking change, prompting renewed criticism that some saw as belittling the young player.
