Shabab Chief Sets the Record Straight: Will Coach Aljasiel Stay or Go?
Al Shabab's president speaks after a mixed result against Al Rayyan.

Update on Coach Aljasiel's Future

Abdulaziz Al Malik, the chairman of Al Shabab Saudi, clarified his stance on whether Emmanuel Aljasiel would remain in charge after the recent troubles.

Beyond the league slump and elimination from the Gulf Cup quarterfinals, the team has not won a match in the Gulf Champions League, drawing 2-2 with Qatar's Al Rayyan yesterday.

'Today the team performed exceptionally well, especially in the second half,' Malik said in TV remarks after the match.

'We are optimistic about what's to come; our main aim is to progress past the first stage, and each incident will be addressed in due course. For now, we must back the team and the current players—they deserve it.'

On potential changes to the squad, Malik added: 'We will make additions that serve the entity, God willing.'

He also spoke about the coaching staff: 'I trust everyone, and I don't like to discuss this matter; we have upcoming matches and transfers anticipated. The coach will stay with the team, and the players currently with us are a blessing.'

And for a touch of levity, Malik's press conference also hinted at new signings that could fix more than a few holes—like a striker who can actually hit the target in a mirror.

Punchline 1: If patience counted as a goal, Shabab would be league champions by now.

Punchline 2: And if press conferences scored, Malik would have a hat-trick every week.
