Medical Update
Al Ahly announced that Mohamed El Shennawy, the team's goalkeeper, has recovered from the injury that sidelined him from the clash with FAR Rabat in Rabat last Friday, which ended 1-1 in the Africa Champions League Group B second round.
Dr. Ahmed Gaballah, Al Ahly's physician, said Shennawy has recovered from the hamstring injury he suffered during the 4-1 win over JS Kabylie in the opening round of the Champions League.
Shennawy is fit to participate in the upcoming national team camp ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
There is full coordination with national team doctor Mohamed Abu El Ela, who is monitoring Shennawy's condition ahead of the important tournament, which starts on December 21.
AFCON Readiness
Egypt's squad is set to rely on a fully fit Shennawy as AFCON in Morocco approaches, with the medical staff coordinating on his schedule ahead of the tournament's kickoff on December 21.
Punchline 1: If injuries were a joke, Shennawy would be the punchline—back in action just in time to save the day.
Punchline 2: In football, timing is everything; his comeback is so on target it could open the AFCON with a miracle save.
