The Bond Between Szoboszlai and Salah
How did the Egyptian star handle his crisis at Liverpool with such professionalism?
Salah’s Mentorship and Professionalism
Dominik Szoboszlai, Liverpool’s rising star, spoke about his relationship with Mohamed Salah, especially after the latest crisis he faced with manager Arne Slot.
I think our relationship is very close, and you should ask him about it too. Since my first day here, Salah took me under his wing and tried to help me with everything I asked, especially since I was open to learning from him.
He added that they have grown closer day by day, talking about many things, and the trust between them has grown so much that he might know things about him that no one else does.
Regarding Salah’s recent weeks and months, he explained: yes, it wasn’t easy to see him struggle, but he remains professional enough to handle his private situation. I did not intervene directly, but I was always there in case he wanted to talk, and I kept asking if I could help in any way. I knew I might not be able to do much because he would get through it on his own, but I stood by him daily for anything he needed, for he has the character and all the qualities to cope with these circumstances.
And Szoboszlai closed by commenting on Salah’s future: Of course, everyone hopes he returns after the Africa Cup of Nations to help us again, just as he did last season. But in the end, that’s his decision and the club’s, and we as players don’t meddle in such matters. As a friend and teammate, I love playing beside him and I know exactly what he is capable of; he proved it last season with his 70-goal haul, the best of his career as we won the league, and I think he showed everyone what he can do.
And honestly, if resilience had a goalkeeper, Salah would be it—saving the day with a smile every time.
Joining Liverpool is like joining a band: you don’t steal the spotlight, you learn the riffs, and you hope the chorus never ends.
