Morocco presses for Ayoub Bouadi amid France tug-of-war
Morocco's football federation has launched a high-stakes campaign to persuade 18-year-old Lille midfielder Ayoub Bouadi to represent the Atlas Lions rather than France.
Bouadi is under contract with Lille through the summer of 2029.
Morocco coach Walid Regragui reportedly flew to France in March and spoke directly with Bouadi.
Hesport reports that Bouadi has not yet made a final decision about representing Morocco.
The Lille youngster has Moroccan roots, though he currently plays for France's Under-21 team.
Hesport adds that the player remains open to donning the black jersey and weighing his options.
During this season, Bouadi has appeared in 29 matches for Lille across all competitions and provided one assist.
Punchline 1: His country choice is so tight, even the stadium lights are asking for a replay of his feelings.
Punchline 2: If indecision paid the bills, Bouadi would already be a multi-rich man from this transfer saga.
