The Phase of Doubt: Can Todor Restore Juventus' Path to Victory?
8 October 2025
Current state under Todor
Juventus enters a challenging phase under head coach Igor Todor. The start of the new season has shown a noticeable dip in results in both Serie A and the Champions League. Although the club has not suffered a defeat, performances have disappointed and the last five matches have produced a troubling string of draws, leaving fans anxious but not defeated. The early momentum is fading, yet the mood in the dressing room remains resolute.
In fact, the team has recorded five consecutive draws across domestic and European competition, a decline that feels disproportionate to the promising start the club enjoyed. The comparison to the Motta era is inevitable, but Todor has already shown elements that keep the club's faith intact and justify his continued role as manager.
When Motta's tenure is recalled, there was a notable gap in communication with the locker room. Todor, by contrast, keeps the squad energized, makes players feel supported, and fosters psychological stability that may improve the chances of overcoming the current run of results.
Despite numerical closeness between Motta and Todor, the administrative stance around the two situations is different. The current administration is united behind Todor to steer the club out of the crisis and avoid a new coaching search, making Todor not just a coach but a guiding force for a broader project at Juve.
Injury absences and incomplete lineups have also limited Juventus. Key players, such as Gleison Bremer, haven't fully recovered yet, and Teun Koopmeiners hasn’t shown his best yet, while newcomer Eidon Zigrova returns after a long layoff, leaving the starting XI far from settled.
Beyond personnel, the club has seen frequent changes in the first team since the season's start—eight matches, eight changes—creating a degree of confusion and harming on-field chemistry. Todor is expected to lean toward a more stable XI as soon as possible to reinforce tactical and psychological balance.
