Thunder extend win streak as Pelicans slump

Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the New Orleans Pelicans 137-106 at the Beckom Center in Oklahoma, extending their winning run to seven games and matching last season’s strong start.

The Canadian Shai Gilgeous-Alexander poured in 30 points to lead the Thunder, with Aaron Wiggins adding 15, and both Cason Wallace and Isiah Joe contributing 13 each. Eight Thunder players reached double figures.

Absent were Luguentz Dort (illness), Chet Holmgren (back) for a third straight game, and Jalen Williams (wrist surgery) who remained sidelined early in the season.

Okla’s offense ran efficiently, shooting 56% as a team and hitting 20 of 48 from beyond the arc, while racking up 33 assists. Coach Mark Daigneault praised the group’s balance and the relentless mindset the squad showed through the night.

Balanced attack and defense shape a dominant night

“We showed maturity by continuing to look for quality shots even when the start wasn’t flashy,” Daigneault said. “Tonight we found good rhythm and execution, which is encouraging as we build comfort in our style.”

In Phoenix, the Suns limited Victor Wembanyama to just nine points, as Devin Booker led with 28 points and 13 assists. Grayson Allen and Ryan Dan added 17 apiece, and Karl-Anthony Towns contributed 20 points with 15 rebounds for his team. The defensive effort was described as a collective challenge that slowed the young star’s impact.

At Madison Square Garden, the Knicks handed the Bulls their first loss after five consecutive wins, 128-116, highlighting New York’s strong start to the season. In another notable result, the Lakers topped the Heat 130-120, aided by a standout effort from their roster as they solidified position in the Western Conference standings.
