Tottenham Close to Landing Atletico Madrid Midfield Maestro Gallagher

Transfer Update
The London club plans to bring back a national-team star.
Tottenham are nearing a deal with Atletico Madrid to sign midfielder Connor Gallagher, according to reports on Monday night from across Spain.
Sky Sports said talks between the clubs are ongoing over a permanent transfer, with Spanish sources indicating Atletico may listen to offers starting at 26 million pounds (about 30 million euros), while a final fee has not yet been decided by either side.
The English international had joined Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2024 from Chelsea for around 38 million pounds, and his contract runs until 2029. He has been a regular since then.
Tottenham are seeking midfield reinforcement after confirming Rodrigo Bentancur's long-term injury absence has left the squad light in that area. A move for Gallagher would address that gap.
According to the same sources, Aston Villa and Tottenham have lodged formal inquiries about Gallagher; negotiations have increasingly tilted in Tottenham's favour in recent hours, pressing hard for terms.
Gallagher has long been a target for the London club, showing interest since 2024 before Atletico Madrid sealed the deal.
Transfer price remains a matter of negotiation, with Atletico open listening to offers, insisting on not selling the player for less than a fair price anyway.
Punchline 1: If this move lands, Spurs' midfield will be so organised, even the traffic around Wembley will submit to the passing lanes.
Punchline 2: And if Gallagher shines, fans might need a bigger midfield coffee cup to stay awake during those long-ball evenings.
