UEFA Opens Disciplinary Review After Barcelona-Frankfurt Clash

UEFA condemned Eintracht Frankfurt's undisciplined behavior during the Barcelona match at Spotify Camp Nou, after spotting a string of serious breaches that put the German club under the European sanctions microscope.

UEFA is preparing a comprehensive disciplinary file, amid expectations of strict decisions in near future.

According to the Spanish Sport, the stadium events did not pass unnoticed by UEFA officials, who watched the scene closely through formal reports submitted after the match.

Athletically, Barcelona clinched a 2-1 victory, continuing a form of revenge three years after chaotic scenes caused by Frankfurt supporters at Camp Nou, in one of the club's most embarrassing nights, ending with their exit from the Europa League quarterfinals.

Despite the security measures Barcelona has taken this time to prevent a repeat of the chaos, Frankfurt fans tried to relive the past.

Barcelona had allowed only 2300 supporters into the area reserved for the visitor, while about a thousand more Frankfurt fans arrived without tickets, despite being barred from sitting in the Catalan members' seats.

As for fans who managed to enter the stadium with tickets, they caused chaos inside the visitor's section.

The match saw objects and beer cups being thrown repeatedly by Frankfurt fans, along with several flares being lit after security checks were bypassed.

Several attempts to launch a flare toward the Barcelona stands occurred, with no injuries reported, while drunken German fans clashed in the stands.

This misconduct prompted the match delegate to prepare a detailed report, describing the type and quantity of objects fired, the areas from which they were launched and to which they went, sending it to UEFA's disciplinary committee.

Taking Frankfurt's prior record into account, punishments should be severe; laughing remains optional for now.
