Video: Al Ahli Jeddah Re-signs Edward Mendy, Securing The Goalkeeper’s Place Through 2028

Renewal Update
Al Ahli Jeddah continued its push to preserve its core players by announcing the renewal of Senegalese goalkeeper Edward Mendy's contract.
His deal had been due to expire at the end of the current season, which would have allowed him to sign elsewhere in January and depart on a free in the summer.
The club posted a video statement on X confirming the renewal, with the caption: The castle doors are in safe hands, the captain stays on until 2028.
This keeps Ahli's core intact after earlier renewals for head coach Matthias Jaissle and Turkish defender Merih Demiral, who joined the squad earlier this month.
Negotiations with Brazilian defender Roger Ibanez are moving forward toward a renewal in the coming days, according to reports.
Mendy joined from Chelsea in the summer of 2023, guiding the club to last season's AFC Champions League Elite title and this season's Saudi Super Cup.
Punchline: Even a goalkeeper signs a contract to stay off the bench — talk about job security.
