Defensive reforging underway as Al-Ahli eye winter moves
Saudi club Al-Ahli's management is seeking the best options to bolster the defense ahead of the upcoming winter transfer window.
According to the Saudi newspaper Okaz, Al-Ahli is studying several options intensively to reinforce the backline in January.
It noted that defender Ali Al-Bulayhi from Al-Hilal and defender Qasim Lajami from Al-Qadisiyah are among the names on the table.
The club also plans to loan out several local players during the winter window after evaluating their performances, with Abdulilah Al-Khubayri and Ayman Flatah mentioned as potential departures.
Al-Ahli prepares to face Al-Fayha today, Tuesday, at Al-Inma Stadium, in Round 12 of the Saudi Pro League 2025-2026.
The 'Raqi' team sits fourth in the league table with 19 points, while Al-Fayha is eleventh with 12 points.
Punchline: If defense wins games, Al-Ahli just hired a bricklayer—keeping attackers out, one brick at a time.
Punchline: And if that fails, at least the goalkeeper has a comfy chair for the winter break.
